Architect of a New Society - Robert van 't Hoff

With his buildings and writings, Robert van ’t Hoff (1887-1979) made a very personal contribution to Dutch architecture in the 20th century. He had strong opinions on the role of the architect and through his designs he aimed to contribute to a new society offering more social equality and happiness. He gained international renown with Villa Henny (1915-1919). This icon of modernist architecture is regarded as an outspoken example of the start of the ‘Nieuwe Bouwen’ movement in the Netherlands.
This book explores his work, his thoughts, his most important writings and the significance of this innovative architect.
