A Man Waiting / Axel van der Kraan

This catalog raisonné was created to mark the occasion of the artist's 75th birthday (Dutch/English).

The  book contains his sculptural work. Van der Kraan often worked together with his wife, artist and photographer Helena van der Kraan (Prague 1940 - Rotterdam 2020).

Van der Kraan's sculptures are characterized by a high degree of inventiveness in their construction and use of materials. In his constructions we see the freedom of installations that were created in the late sixties / early seventies.

Initially, Van der Kraan made his sculptures largely from wood, but after 1985 they mostly consist of metal. These so-called 'iron works' are often simplified, figurative images.
